Can normal pet store grit be used on Pigeons?

Stuff that just has charcoal and oyster shell? Anyone? Is it good enough?

I asked Tristan about this. He says that he uses oyster shell but he's never heard of people using charcoal for pigeons.
He also said that people use charcoal on other birds and it's ok.
I'm not sure what the downside to using charcoal would be... but, I don't know much about the effects of it on birds.
You might try it though. Put some out and see what happens. The birds might just go for the oyster shell and avoid the charcoal altogether... Then again, you should be able to find just oyster shell by itself.

yes this would be fine, they will love the charcoal. Oystershell only gives calcium for egg production, the grit gives vit. minerals and helps with digestion.
